About Ann
I’m Ann, a teenager located somewhere north of London, in the delighful British Isles. That wasn’t necessarily sarcasm, I am constantly thankful that I was born into an English-speaking country, because, let’s admit it, the best films are in English. I am also blonde. You may draw from that what you will.
I live with my crazy sister Lizzy, who is an eco-crazy friendly, ancient-greek-learning, hippy nerd, who provides me with hours of amusement, as well as a few of annoyance. I just want to clarify quickly that, despite how the photo appears, I am still taller than her1. Also living with us are the adults who, due to some misinformation, think that they control the household – the parents. As you may have gathered, living in our house is rather crazy – nevertheless I firmly believe I have an awesome family.
Otherwise I share my time between various people you may see mentioned on this blog. Vicky, my fellow music student, also may be known as Pizza Express Girl. We have exciting times together. Becca, the one who I used to gossip to during Maths. Campi, the one who is always shocked at everything I do. Cathy, the one who is short (sorry, dear, has to be said).
Those are my closest school friends. I also spend my time mingling with other Christians… y’know, since I am one myself. Rach and Toby are two of the greatest people I know, and I can turn to them about anything.
So, those are my friends. What about me? Well I’m a music geek for one thing, and I’m hoping to study music when I toddle off to University in the not-too-distant future. What particularly fascinates me is how a simple arrangement of notes can convey such powerful emotions (or not, if you’re Stravinsky). I’m sure that if you analyse it enough, you can find a common element in all popular songs, which make them popular. After I have discovered that – well it is an easy step to write millions of bestselling songs.
As for my personal taste in music to listen to, that can be open to interpretation. Scour through my last.fm and I’m sure you will find at least one song from every genre. My favourite band is, and has been for a few years, Nightwish, but (or perhaps this is derived from) my favourite thing to listen to are soundtracks. When I fangirl, I fangirl, and I fangirl most about Howard Shore, Hans Zimmer, and Harry Gregson-Williams. They are LEGENDS.
I’m starting to ramble, which I promised myself I wouldn’t do. So, very quickly, my other loves in life are reading, writing and film-watching. I’m currently attempting to expand on a plot for a book, which started out as a “nice idea”. After a failed NaNo attempt, it stands at roughly 25,000 words. I’m hoping to finish it before I move onto bigger and better ideas which are filling my head.
Speaking of fantasy, my first love when it comes to films is the Lord of the Rings trilogy. See above for fangirliness over the soundtracks. I must also admit to having a little crush on fellowship members etc. The main other channel for my love to pour into is SciFi. Don’t even get me started on Doctor Who. Suffice it to say that I’ve been given an “encyclopaedic knowledge of Doctor Who” award.
